I want to thank UNKANTUS' effort to organize this teen activity. I understand that its VERY HOT and the project was not very appealing, so I am going to ask the contractor to just do the repairs.

I will ask parents to take the time to take their teens to the bus stop sometime between now and the start of school and discuss the importance of respecting people and property. Not only should teens not be destructive of anyone's personal property, they should protect their own turf! Do not sit idly by and let someone destroy what belongs to them. Take action, stop the destructive behavior, or take a picture and report it.

I didn't get a email blast sent out calling for teen volunteers. I don't see any volunteers except Earl's boys. I guess we'll wait until I get back from my mini vacation.

I will put some flyers out at the pools today asking for volunteers and that a day is chosen between 7/19 and the end of July.

Okay, I have set the stage for a Teen event. One of the contractors repairing HOA storm damage has agreed to supply the materials and provide some support and guidance to the Teens to repair the Bus Stop.

The To Do list includes: demo, replacement, paint. Shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours if at least 8-10 teens will show up. Maybe even less. I am thinking a morning activity followed by a Swim Party. Do we need any "parents", or can the teens pull this together themselves?

Parents; pass this message along to your teen(s), pick a date within the next two weeks and get a commitment. I'll have the materials and contractor there to supervise.

I'll help out with this too. My sons will be able to chip in with the work and depending on what time of day we want the swim party I can contribute music/movie. Weekdays are better for me this month and I will not be available for the last 2 weekends this month.

I'm shipping my teen off to band camp for the next two weeks - 10th to the 22nd - but if we pick a date anytime around then I'll send her over to help. Even though she'll never see the inside of the bus, this is a great way for her to help her new community and meet her future classmates.

When ever a date is set Travis and I will be there to give hand. Kelly

Perhaps we can discuss getting a committee together at the party tommorrow. Will see everyone there!

The Teen night activities need to be planned by the residents; specifically the Parents and Teens who have signed the Minor Waivers. There are several residents that have discussed ideas. I suggest that a Committee get organized to make some plans.

I will coordinate the Bus Stop repair activity for a morning in the next couple of weeks probably just after the roof is replaced.

Stay tuned!

I'm just now signing up for this site... Could someone let me know where to get the unaccompanied minor waiver for my kids?

Thanks to all parents and teens who showed up last night! We hope this is the start of a tradition here in COR where our young people help grow the community and have a great time in the process. Remember to tell your other friends who live in COR that they need to sign-up for the unaccompanied minor waiver so they can participate as well. Thanks!

Anyone feel like having music and movie at the pool some evening over the weekend? let me know and as long as someone is willing to help me set-up and breakdown we can do this! Have a great holiday!

sounds fun! if i'm down there, i'll def. help set up!!

unkhantusunkhantus on Friday, 27 May 2011 10:13

Great! just need to pick a night and time now. We also have to be aware the pool closes at 10 so we can plan accordingly(like moving it to the parking lot or outside the fence).

I will schedule an evening later this month for a meeting with parents and teens. I will say in advance, there are no guarantees. I need to educate and inform parents of the legal liabilities and responsibilities that are at issue. It may be easy to sign a waiver, but it is very difficult to be responsible for a minor's behavior and well being. I take this very seriously!
